Talk on Sports Medicine at St Esprit Rivière Noire

The 6th edition of the Sports Medicine Project was held on Wednesday 08 September 2010 at "Collège du St Esprit Riviere Noire" in the presence of officers of the Sports Council, Mrs. Dominique Seblin, Rectress, staff and students.
The objectives of the talks are to make the youths aware of the benefits of Sports Medicine, proper physical activities and a good nutrition for maintaining a healthy life style. Resource persons would be in the range of Doctors, Physiotherapists and Nutritionists.
A First Aid kit, an Ice Box and booklets on Sports Medicine were offered to the college.
The resource persons and themes were:
- Mrs. A. Gowreesungkur , Nutritionist, posted at Victoria hospital- "NUTRITION "
- Mr. Michel Chang Kye, Chief Physiotherapist, posted at Victoria hospital - "USE OF ICE FOR TREATMENT OF INJURIES"
- Mr. B. Mudhoo, Mrs. G. Dabeeah and Mrs. K. Burrun, Sports Nursing Officers of the Sports Medical Unit - "LES BIENFAITS DES EXERCICES PHYSIQUES".
A quiz was held with questions related to the talks on Sports Medicine and the winners are Alice La Pirogue, Jean Marie Coomarasamy, Stephanie Bauda and Berné Luzette. They were each offered a book as gift, related to First Aid and Nutrition, by the Mauritius Sports Council.
Dear members of the Sports family, you have in hand what I consider to be a vital communication tool. The aim behind the website is to create a link within the Mauritian Sports Community. It’s also an opportunity for me to pay tribute to all these benevolent who serve our sport, year in and year out. I seize this opportunity to inform all our partners that the Mauritius Sports Council has moved a step forward and that we are now ISO 9001:2008 certified.
Members of the Sports Community, rest assured that the Mauritius Sports Council is doing its utmost to plan, coordinate and promote competitive and healthy recreational sports through financial, administrative and service assistance. These being the MSC vision and objectives.
Without the precious collaboration of each and everyone from the Mauritian Sports family it is impossible for the MSC to achieve its vision and objectives. I graciously thank the Ministry of Youth and Sports, all our stakeholders, and all our sponsors for their fruitful collaboration.
