Workshop for Club Maurice (Boxing)

In line with its policy to inculcate the importance of Sports Medicine, the Medical / Paramedical Sub Committee organised a workshop on Sports Medicine for athletes / officials and coaches forming part of the Club Maurice for the "Jeux de la Francophonie" to be held in Liban in September 2009. The aim of the workshop is to raise awareness for a good nutrition and to learn the basic fundamentals of Sports Medicine and Doping issues.
The workshop was held on Friday 10 July 2009 from 09h00 to 12h30 at the National Boxing Centre, Vacoas, in the presence of Mr. Dhiraj Singh Khamajeet, Chairman of the Mauritius Sports Council, Mr. Giandev Moteea, President of the Club Maurice, Mr. Ram Lollchand, Head of Mission, Mr. P. Jhummun, Managing Secretary of the Mauritius Sports Council and Mr. I.V. Desscann, Secretary of the Club Maurice.
The Themes and Resource persons were:
- THE IMPORTANCE OF GOOD NUTRITION -Mrs. Ragavoodoo, Principal Nutritionist, Ministry of Health & Quality of Life
- THE USE OF ICE IN THE TREATMENT OF INJURIES - Mr. Michel Chang Kye, Chief Physiotherapist, Ministry of Health & Quality of Life
- SPORTS INJURIES AND PREVENTION -Dr. K. Dassyne, Sports Medical Officer, Sports Medical Unit
- DOPING ISSUES - Mr. Pravin Dhoomon, Doping Control Officer / Manager Anti Doping Unit
Dear members of the Sports family, you have in hand what I consider to be a vital communication tool. The aim behind the website is to create a link within the Mauritian Sports Community. It’s also an opportunity for me to pay tribute to all these benevolent who serve our sport, year in and year out. I seize this opportunity to inform all our partners that the Mauritius Sports Council has moved a step forward and that we are now ISO 9001:2008 certified.
Members of the Sports Community, rest assured that the Mauritius Sports Council is doing its utmost to plan, coordinate and promote competitive and healthy recreational sports through financial, administrative and service assistance. These being the MSC vision and objectives.
Without the precious collaboration of each and everyone from the Mauritian Sports family it is impossible for the MSC to achieve its vision and objectives. I graciously thank the Ministry of Youth and Sports, all our stakeholders, and all our sponsors for their fruitful collaboration.
