Workshop for National Sports Federation

As part of its role to promote best practice management in Finance for National Sports Federations, the Mauritius Sports Council organised a half day workshop for Treasurers / Assistant Treasurers and Administrative Secretaries on Saturday 17 September 2011 at Phoenix Gymnasium.
The opening ceremony was performed in the presence of :
- Mr. Kris L. Appadoo, Chairman of the Mauritius Sports Council
- Members of the Mauritius Sports Council and
- Mr. Elvis Bonne, Representative of the Mauritius National Olympic Commitee
40 participants from different sports federations were present.
The following issues were presented during the workshop:
- DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF TREASURERS / ASSISTANT TREASURERS presented by Mr. Dharmarajoo MOONISAMY, ACCA (Accountant)
- PREPARING FINANCIAL STATEMENTS presented by Mr. Dayanand TOOLSEE, FCCA (Auditor)
- IMPROVE ORGANISATIONAL INTEGRITY IN THE WORLD OF SPORTS presented by Mr. Kailash KOONJAL, Chief Officer, Corruption Prevention and Education Division at ICAC
The participants also had opportunities to discuss on:
- How to manage efficiently Finance of Sports Federations.
- To provide participants a forum of exchange and sharing of ideas on common issues related to finance management.
Dear members of the Sports family, you have in hand what I consider to be a vital communication tool. The aim behind the website is to create a link within the Mauritian Sports Community. It’s also an opportunity for me to pay tribute to all these benevolent who serve our sport, year in and year out. I seize this opportunity to inform all our partners that the Mauritius Sports Council has moved a step forward and that we are now ISO 9001:2008 certified.
Members of the Sports Community, rest assured that the Mauritius Sports Council is doing its utmost to plan, coordinate and promote competitive and healthy recreational sports through financial, administrative and service assistance. These being the MSC vision and objectives.
Without the precious collaboration of each and everyone from the Mauritian Sports family it is impossible for the MSC to achieve its vision and objectives. I graciously thank the Ministry of Youth and Sports, all our stakeholders, and all our sponsors for their fruitful collaboration.
