The launching ceremony of the Sports Medicine Project for the year 2010 was held on Wednesday 24 March 2010 at Rajcoomar Gujadhur State Secondary School, Flacq, in the presence of: 

 
- Mr. Dhiraj Singh Khamajeet, Chairman of the Sports Council ,
- Members and staff of the Sports Council ,
- Mr. K. Jhummun, Rector, staff & students and
- members of the media
 
The objectives of the talks are to make the youths aware of the benefits of Sports Medicine, proper physical activities and a good nutrition for maintaining a healthy life style.  Resource persons would be in the range of Doctors, Physiotherapists and Nutritionists. 15 secondary institutions have been identified throughout the island for running of the talks in the coming months.
 
A First Aid kit, an Ice Box and  booklets on Sports Medicine were offered to the college.

 

 

   
         
On the same occasion, the Sports Council proceeded to the launching of its Directory of National Sports Governing Bodies in Mauritius for the year 2010 / 2011. Publication of the directory was sponsored by:

Mrs. B. Dowlut, Nutritionist, posted at Flacq Hospital - "NUTRITION "   Mr. Michel Chang Kye, Chief Physiotherapist, posted at Victoria hospital - "USE OF ICE FOR TREATMENT OF INJURIES"   Dr. Khemraj Dassyne, Sports Medical Officer of the Sports Medical Unit - "LES BIENFAITS DES EXERCICES PHYSIQUES".
     

 

A quiz was held with questions related to the talks on Sports Medicine and the winners are Ms. Ilalorshanee Beemadoo, Alisha Gunoo, Rishta Senraj and Arouna Ramgoolam . They were each offered a polo shirt as gift by the Mauritius Sports Council.
