The launching ceremony of the Candia Sports Medicine Programme for the year 2014 was held on Thursday 13 February 2014 at Loreto College, St Pierre, in the presence of:

             Hon. Satyaprakash Ritoo, Minister of Youth and Sports
Ms. Stephanie Heerah and Ms. Aurore Lam, Representatives of Panagora Marketing Company Limited
Members and staff of the Mauritius Sports Council
Mr. Michel Chang Kye, Physiotherapist and Chairman of the Medical Committee of the Mauritius Sports Council
the Rector, Mrs. Agnelle Gnany, teachers and students
Mrs. Marie Noelle Thomas, Representative of Parent Teachers Association (PTA)
Members of the media


The objectives of the talks are to make the youths aware of the benefits of Sports Medicine, proper physical activities and a good nutrition for maintaining a healthy lifestyle.  Resource persons would be in the range of Doctors, Physiotherapists and Nutritionists.  Primary / secondary institutions, senior citizens associations / women associations and participants from community centres have been identified throughout the island for the holding of the talks in the coming months.

Talks were held as follows:
Good nutrition presented by Mrs. Leela Mootoosamy, Nutritionist from the Ministry of Health & Quality of Life
The importance and benefit of physical activities presented by Mr. Michel Chang Kye, Physiotherapist
A First Aid kit, an ice Box, booklets on Sports Medicine and sports equipments were offered to Ms. Shamima Alleessaib and Mrs. Marie Helen Fevrier, P.E Teachers.

A quiz was held with questions related to the talks on Sports Medicine and the winners are Vaishali Ramessur, Yovishni Pavaday, Drusille Vacher and Trishika Sungkur .They were each offered a polo shirt as gift by the Mauritius Sports Council.
