The Mauritius Sports Council organised the Candia Sports Medicine Program in Rodrigues from 07 to 11 May 2013, comprising of:
Mr. Kris Appadoo, Chairman of the Mauritius Sports Council
Mr. M. Chang Kye, Physiotherapist, Chairman of the Medical Committee, Board Member of the Mauritius Sports Council
Mrs. E. Louise, Higher Executive Officer and coordinator of the program
Mr. R. Driver, Board Member of the Mauritius Sports Council
Mr. P. Ramharai, Board Member of the Mauritius Sports Council
Miss Aurore Chui Chun Lam, Representative of Panagora Marketing Co. Ltd
The resource persons were:
Mr. M. Chang Kye, Physiotherapist, Chairman of the Medical Committee, Board Member of the Mauritius Sports Council
Mr. C. Raboude, Nutritionist from the Ministry of Health & Quality of Life
The launching of the Candia Sports Medicine Program was held on Wednesday 08 May 2013 at Marechal College, Marechal.

Mr. I. Valimamode, Commissioner of Health & Sports in Rodrigues, said that this programme which is being held in Rodrigues is a valuable one and should be extended to all students to benefit from the talks.

Mr. Kulpoo, Rector of the college thanked the Mauritian Delegation for having chosen his college for the talks and said that arrangements had been made to enable all students of the college to be present.  150 students participated in the program. The launching ceremony was covered by the Mauritius Broadcasting Corporation and members of the press.
 






 






  
On Wednesday 08 May 2013, talks on Sports Medicine were held at Anse aux Anglais, Senior Citizen Centre for the benefits of Senior Citizens of the vicinity.  Approximately 75 persons were present.
 


 
  
On Thursday 09 May 2013, the delegation visited Le Chou College.  Mrs. L. Françoise, rector of the college have arranged for 150 students to be present.
 












 












  
On Thursday 09 May 2013, talks were held for the benefit of Women Association at Centre Integré, Malabar where 100 women were present.
Mrs.  Edward, Member of the Regional Centre expressed the wish that these talks be held in Rodrigues more frequently.
 


 
On Friday 10 May 2013, Mr. Ashok Seesaghur, the Rector of Grand Montagne College welcomed the Mauritian delegation for the talks on good nutrition and benefit of sports.  150 students participated in the Sport Medicine Program.
 


 
  
The Chairman of the Mauritius Sports Council, Mr. Kris Appadoo,had a meeting with the Commissioner of Sports and Health as well as the representative of Sports Federations.

The objectives of the Mauritius Sports Council in respect to the Candia Sports Medicine Program were attained as more than 500 participants attended the various talks held around Rodrigues.  The sessions were interactive and the response was very positive.

All colleges/senior citizens centre/women’s association visited were very grateful to the Mauritius Sports Council for having organised such activities in Rodrigues.

The participants were offered sports equipment and T-shirts as well as Candia milk which was sponsored by Panagora Marketing Co. Ltd. and represented by Ms. Aurore Lam.
