ALLSPORT ATHLETE AWARD OF THE MONTH

OCTOBER, NOVEMBER & DECEMBER 2007

The above-mentioned ceremony was held on Thursday 03 April 2008 at the Medco Cassis Secondary School, Cassis.  Eminent personalities namely   Hon. Rama Valayden, Minister of Justice & Human Rights, Mr. Rashad Daureeawo, Chairman of Board of Directors of Medco Ltd., Mr. Fritz Thomas, Lord Mayor of Municipal Council of Port Louis and Mr. Dhiraj Singh Khamajeet, Chairman of the Mauritius Sports Council, graced the function by their presence.

The following athletes were rewarded for their best performances as follows:

Miss Marie Michelle GODIN of Judo for the month of October 2007.  She was Gold Medallist – 70 kgs (Int) in the International Judo tournament held in Reunion Island in Mid October 2007.

Mr. Brian DEUX NOVEMBRE of Triathlon for the month of November 2007.  He was Gold Medallist in the International Triathlon African Cup (Category under 17) held in Mombassa Kenya on 17 November 2007.

Mr. Rikesh TAUCOORY of Table Tennis for the month of December 2007.  During the Table Tennis tournament of the Zone 7 held in Mauritius from 13-17 December 2007, he was Gold Medallists in namely the Event Team Category Senior and the Event Mixed Doubles Senior.  He won also a bronze medal in the Event Men’s Singles Category Senior.

The Mauritius Sports Council offered a trophy, a gift cheque of Rs 2,000/- and a certificate to each winner.

Allsport, Sponsor of the event represented by Mr. Dominique Kut offered a sport bag, a track suit , a T-shirt and a pair of sports shoes to all the winners.

Mr. D. S. Khamajeet, Chairman of the Mauritius Sports Council donated several sports equipment viz; a pair of basketball rings, a pair of basketball nets, football, volleyball and skipping ropes to Mr. Raja Pillay, Rector of Medco Cassis Secondary School to mark the event.
